My bios options are very limited, however i was able to use the bios to change the sata to ide. It still is not working, and now it isnt found with the windows 7 disk I have. This isnt a new pc. That is after formatting my windows partition Given that i have two OS on my laptop i had the above mentioned problem setup did not find hard disk …. Immediately i did this ,the set up could now find the hard disk so i proceeded with the installation.

Reinstalling on an old Compaq, this post was spot on. Changed the sata option and it detected the drive ASAP. Great stuff. I have been looking for the solution since 6 months ago and now………………..
