It also works as a code reader and can reset a Check Engine light. Also, on both versions there is a nice current MPG readout that also shows fuel used and cost.

That said, code readers have been around for over a decade, so there's no reason to believe the Garmin wouldn't do this properly. It would be great to alternate using the setup between different cars; since it plugs into each car's ODB-II port, it could even figure out automatically which car it was plugged into.

That's a minor quibble, though. But that gadget can't reset engine codes, and CarMD's manufacturer is too restrictive about how you use the device. But it's not nearly as accurate, since it's not monitoring engine performance in real-time. Otherwise, the ecoRoute HD is a nice enhancement for the gadget-minded driver who can never have too much data. Excellent 4.
