Save game extractor

Note: Recompressing a saved game may not result in byte-identical compressed data certainly doesn't for me , but the decompressed UE4 game save data remains identical and it seems to work fine for Astroneer, provided the correct settings are used as above. Some zlib implementations differ in how well they compress for given settings. Sorry, something went wrong. I just finished a good round of Astroneer and went to check on the subreddit when I found out I messed up my base, because I packed all 6 possible extensions with buildings not knowing one can extend the points further for larger bases.

Long story short, I searched for someone who tried digging into the savegame files, and your post on reddit was the only thing I could find. Since you were able to decompress them, do you think there is a way to change your buildings as in remove one?

I put some hours into my save and would hate to give it up just because I messed up the base design.. I'll look into your gist now, I'm a CS major almost finished with university, so I have some knowledge. Simply searching the savegame for 'Condenser' results in 5 results near the start of the file. Now I have one Fuel Condenser in my world, And I checked with an empty world without one, no occurrences there, very weird.

There is no information associated with the Components, no coordinates, just 5 bytes with the second one seemingly addressing the length of the name? The first occurrence is preceded by the entry I thought nobody noticed this I'm grateful that it came in handy! I later found an in-game trainer that was fun to dabble with I've not played in a while though. As for why I didn't know anyone commented, I've learned that gist has a major old bug wherein you don't get notifications for comments to gists.

If you leave a comment, it would be appreciated if you ping me elsewhere so I know to find it! How do I recompress the file? I can decompress them but what is the command to recompress?

I haven't done anything with this in years. I'm not sure it works with current versions of Astroneeer. Its still decompresses the file just fine. When I edit the -raw and rerun the program it overwrites the -raw instead of recompressing it.

I am not super familiar with python, so I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction. Star Transmit Sega Saturn save game files as audio. Based on minimodem GPL Branches Tags. Could not load branches. Could not load tags. Latest commit. Git stats 20 commits. Failed to load latest commit information. View code. It's main purpose is to copy burned saves to your Saturn, but it has features for exporting saves via hex code. For very small files this would work, but for larger files SGEX is the superior option.

It's most likely a pain but you could probably figure out a way to e-mail yourself saves from the internal memory. As it takes up the cartridge slot you obviously can't directly dump cartridge saves. Has an SD slot to transfer saves.

Supports dumping saves from cartridges. Use Save Game Copier. Homebrew has been written to copy data including saves from that port. Usage Connect the stereo out of your Saturn to the line in of your PC. Select the save file you wish to transfer. Press C to transfer When your transfer is complete, stop the minimodem process Run the Python script on the transmitted data: python3 sgex. BUP format based on the transmitted data.

Frequently Asked Questions Can I copy saves from a backup cartridge? Answer: yes. Now that I have my save backed up, how do I get it back to my Saturn? These utilities will let you copy the save file from a burned disc back to the Saturn. Answer: While I added an option to do that, the transfer speeds are just too slow. I don't recommend trying at the current moment. I looked into bzip2 and it looks like it requires a ton of memory. The official docs says 2. I'm not sure how Rockin'B did it.

Because Tamagotchi Park save data is full of 00h, that's a champion result, but in typical case it's not negligible. So this would nearly double the transfer with SGEX. Click to expand I went with miniz which is based on zlib. Not much testing but I was able to transfer 3 compressed saves from real hardware just now.

Requires using the updated Python script as well. Thank you for the tip regarding the maximum save size, I will adjust my maximum. I think I was setting half of that as the max. It's good you could find an appropriate compression algorithm.

I'm not able to run the sgex. Solitario said:. This homebrew was just what I was looking for, thanks bro. Glad it worked. It's looks like you are using version 0. I looked at getting Python3 support to work and just got frustrated and stopped. Need to look into again. I updated the Python script to require Python3 and to fail gracefully on Python2. I'd like to use it to download the entire save cart in one go, and then restore it from another file.

This could be also used for dumping bios, rom carts, etc. It would save me the trouble of desoldering the chips for reading in a ROM programmer. And some emulators use save data in single file format too.

Sure that shouldn't be too bad. I just need to think of how to I want to do it in the UI. I'd recommend two menu options, "download from memory" and "upload to memory", where you can then select from a list of memory locations corresponding to some more important presets; such as memory cart, entire cart port, boot rom, WORK RAM LOW, WORK RAM HIGH to load game binaries - not sure if this is possible since it would overwrite the current code , just from the top of my head.
